Terrice Bassler’s hands are wet with clay as she sits at her pottery wheel.
The sun and a warm breeze come through the open window of her studio at The Hub on Merrymeeting Road.
She delights in the noon hour when the Sound Symposium’s Harbour Symphony — music made with the coordination of ship’s horns in St. John’s harbour — seems to sail through the window with the breeze.
In many ways, Bassler’s most recent work is like those ships— as their joyful horns sound while in port, her upcoming pottery exhibition ‘The Vessel Homecoming’ is also a celebration of a vessel — of a different type — at home.
